    Default Replacing skimmer and stuff.

I am relpacing my skimmer with a waterway skimmer because of the basket always becoming disloged. I also have at times huge amounts of bugs and leaves. I'm thinking about placing a leaf trap like used on suction side cleaners in line after the skimmer? Then I could take out the basket when I get lots of trash in the pool. I know that they are meant to be used in the water so a suction side leak normally would not be a problem. What do you think? I'm using flex pvc and also need to replace my shut off valve I have a simple ballvalve from HD but it stuck closed and I broke an ear off getting it open. Any sugestions on good shut off valve.

    Thanks,

I guess I'm just going two have to experiment with the leaf trap etc. Can anyone recomend a valve for shut off on the suction side. Gate valve? Ball valve?

    Thanks again

    Hey Jennifer,

I bought an 1 1/2" ball valve from Lowe's and installed it before the pump. As far as a leaf trap, I'm experimenting on a few things to trap the leaves before they get to the skimmer... I did'nt have the luxurary of no trees in my back yard, so leaves and pine needles are becomeing a problem... I have seen where people mount a leaf skimmer net in the pool so the leaves get trapped before they enter the skimmer... Good luck
