Okay to add acid and chlorine at same time?

Short answer...Yes.....assuming you don't mean simultaneously.

I will frequently add Cl to my skimmer and then follow shortly by adding muriatic to the return jet stream. You might even be able to add muriatic to the skimmer but that just doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Into the return stream allows for instant dilution and rapid dispersion.

Of course, never mix them....never mix the muriatic with anything but water.

So if you do them as sequential operations, no problems.
