Red face My first test. Any suggestions?

    Hi,

I have vinyl pool about 35k with 400k gas heater. Just put a new liner in about 1 month ago. My first "real" test results are as follows:

    FC 6
    CC 0
    TC 6
    ph ~7.3
    Alk 110
    Cal 150
    Cya ~15

I have two puck floaters with non stabilized pucks. I added about 3# cya to get this far, but lost a few thousand gallons due to leak. I was planning on adding another 3# cya. I have several very small spots of black algae that I need to attack also. If anyone could let me know a good attack plan I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Your test results look very good. I might suggest more CYA than you are planning. Use the bleachcalc but about 6 more lbs should get you about a 25ppm increase up to 40....that's the level I would shoot for.

Black algae is a tough customer. I have no experience with it but I believe the common method is constant high levels of chlorine and brushing as many times daily as you can. Others with more experience can help more.

I thought black algae had to have something to grow into (root) - like in plaster or concrete pools. Are you sure it's black algae?
