Default In floor Cleaning system with Intellichlor IC40

I had a 20x40 in ground, pool built this year. I had an in floor cleaning system installed and after a few problems have just loved it. I have one question about it though that no one can answer. They installed the Intellichlor IC40 on the in floor pump. Why? My pool is very clean and do not have to run the cleaning system as much which limits my ability to make chlorine. I think that having it on the filter pump would be much better, but again, no one can tell me.

I run my filter pump 12 hrs/day, and run my infloor pump 6 hrs/day.

    Thanks,
    Bob

Well, it does make more sense to have it on the filter pump. At 6 hrs/day pump run on the infloor pump, it doesn't seem like the IC unit would be able to generate enough chlorine to keep up, especially in the middle of summer. I would check with the instruction manual first. Then, after you find that the current plumbing is not shown as a recommended installation, demand that they reinstall it properly.

Most likely your plumbing after the filter (or if you have a Heater, after the heater) is pretty tight to the point that it would have required an extensive replumbing to fit the cell in. The next option would be the infloor line, which probably has more space for the cell.
