    Default cold joints in shockcrete

i am having a pool built. They shot half of the pool on sat and are shooting the rest today. I always thought cold joints were bad in concrete. The contractor says shockcrete is different and cold joints are ok. Any feedback??? Is he right or blowing smoke.

    Probably a little of both!

Shotcrete is a portland cement product and it doesn't bond well to itself after curing. However, your pool derives the majority of it's strength by the shotcrete encasing the rebar so the cold joint is almost surely just fine since the rebar penetrates and reinforces it everywhere.
