    Can I use "Cargill Salt
    40 Pound Salt Pellets Water Softener" from lowes?

    Yes. It has greater than 99.5% purity

    Pellets are fine, they just take longer to dissolve. If you pile them up over the main drain and divert most of the flow through the main drain, they should dissolve quite quickly anyway.
