Not much you can do, especially once things freeze, up where we are, we just forget about it til spring, a couple of winters ago, I had so much snow in my AG pool that the snow was 3' above the top of the pool, just make sure that you use gizmos in your skimmer and you should be fine.
Actually, I don't quite understand why we have to drain below when the water/snow just brings it back up above again......
