Default So I added the CYA

I've got that level up to 65 PPM. My chlonrine readings are now consistently at 3 or higher - that's as high as my kit tests for. MY SWG has been turned down to 10%, and I'm still getting these high readings. I've read that my free chlorine levels must be higher with the CYA in the pool, but I feel like I'm missing something here.

I have gunite SW pool in Houston.

Every spring I have to add CYA otherwise I have to circ water like crazy to get enough Cl, basically the sun burns it off, the CYA reduces this, ie retains the Cl so you don;t have to generate as much Cl.

I run the SWG at 50% and just adjust the run time to get enough Cl. Ie in spring I start upping the time and in fall I reduce. Mid summer when pool is about 90F I have 1.5 to 2 Cl and in mid winter I'm down to 1 ppm, at these concentrations of Cl I get no algae. So I think you can lower your circ times.
