Default Do I HAVE to add shock to close?

My water is balanced. Chlorine is 3.5.......I am going to raise it a bit and add algaecide 60%. My pool counselor didn't mention shock. Water is crystal clear just needs vacummed a bit.
Is this ok, or do I have to add some shock and if so how much. 22,900 gallons? And can I also just add the alg 60% or do I have to circulate it. I have to get in the pool to put the filter cover on and plug the aqual. and remove the steps. Once I do this I CANT circulate?

You can trust physics to distribute the algicide (algistat - more properly) after the pool is covered, but I'd trust the filtration system to better disribute it throughout the pool. Shocking is something that may or may not be neccessary, but is a good idea, it kills any little stuff that may try to grow over the winter.

I asssume you should put the filter on "circulate" so that you don't filter OUT thee algaecide 60?
