Did this problem just start recently or has this been happening for awhile? If so how long?

probably just within the last couple of weeks. I have the pump on a timer so it comes on when I'm not watching it. I didn't know it wasn't priming fully because I wasn't standing over the skimmer basket.
Now, I'll know better to check on it every once in a while. Even when I clean out the basket, I clean it and then let the pump come on and prime itself.
It's frustrating to watch that basket get alllllmost full and then have a darned bubble at the top.
It's like feeling like you have to sneeze and then you don't!
Also..there's no water spurting from the lid....
