    Default Water heater/cooler

Does anyone know if the heat pumps with the cooling feature will actually cool the water? We live in the south and it gets really hot. We're going to get a heat pump with a cooling feature, just wondering if they actually work.

Sure it will work. Just put your hand above where the air leaves the unit when it is running -- that air is very cold. When you reverse the unit it takes heat out of the pool and dumps it to the air. A heatpump is just a reversible air conditioner. I am not sure of the economics of running it in cooling mode - it might be fairly expensive to operate.

In cooling mode it makes the most sense to run the unit at night when the outdoor temperatures are the lowest. You will get more bang for the same buck this way.
