    I definitely WOULD NOT allow ice skating - especially if you have a vinyl liner. When I was a kid (7-8) I had the brain storm to do just that with our little above ground vinyl liner pool. Everything went smashingly . . . until . . . I tapped the wall with the front edge of the blade of my figure skate. The vinyl was cold enough that the impact cracked the liner from the ice up to the top of the wall. My parents were NOT pleased!

    Another reason not to skate is movement of the ice block. That thing weighs a bunch and if you get it rocking it could catch a return jet or the steps and do some serious damage.
