I've got one and it does help catch more junk on the first pass by the skimmer. Pretty flexible as far as depth and angle are concerned and its very easy to remove for swimming.

My pool is 16x32 rectangular, one deep end jet across from the skimmer, one shallow end jet on the same side as the skimmer, one jet in the walk in stairs, and I turned my automatic cleaner port into a fourth jet/fountain to help aim surface garbage towards the skimmer.

If you have a robotic cleaner, you'll need to remove the paddle before running it as the robot will knock it off into the deep end

I bought one several years ago, but didn't use it much. It didn't fit well into my skimmer opening. I would find it laying on the pool floor under the skimmer all the time, so I quit using it.
