Default sand filter system with Intex metal frame pool

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm still learning. Can I upgrade to a sand filter system with an Intext metal frame pool? Will this give me better circulation and filtering? Last question (for now) with an 18' x 48" pool how big of a pump should I be using?

What kind of filter do you have now?

If you read the pool solutions stuff or some threads, you will see that a bigger pump often does not mean better filtering. A lot of pools are sold with too big a pump.

Thansk for the quick response. I currently have an Intex pump that uses the Intex B filter.

I found the following used equipment locally that I was thinking of getting. I do not know the size of the pump yet. I would get just one of the filters, don't know wich one yet.

PUMP: Purex Triton Dynamo I think about 3-4 years old

FILTER1: Doughboy Silica Plus 0-1741-0000 Old - but has continued to work just fine for us.

FILTER2: Tagelus Delux - Was a friends - looks in new condition - its bigger than ours.
