No, it will still work. Just turn off the filter and let it sit overnight, some floc directions say to wait 24 hours - it depends on how cloudy the water was, and what it looks like the next morning. When you vacuum, vacuum very slowly so the vacuum doesn't swirl it around back into the water. After you vacuum, if the water is still cloudy, turn the filter off all night again and repeat.

Actually, when I got home at 3, the water looks totally clear. Not much stuff on the bottom. Checked the chlorine and now I think maybe we still have algae. FC is 1.6. 24 hours ago it was at 3.0. CC is between .4 and .6. Do you think I should bring the chlorine up to a high level after the sun goes down and check it in the morning to see if it holds? Will the algaecide and floc I put in have an effect on the consumption? I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed. Thanks.

We will be able to help you much better if you post your numbers:

    Free Chlorine
    Combined Chlorine
    Ph
    Alkalinity
    Calcium
    Cya

The reason is we need to know how high your chlorine should be according to how much cya you have in the pool. This way we can tell if it is sun eating up the chlorine or algae. One good way is to see if you use any chlorine overnight. If you do, then the chlorine is fighting something. Don't feel overwhelmed - we can help, and we can help you learn all about your own pool , and how to keep it clean and clear

    Here's my numbers: (3:30pm)

    FC 8.4
    CC .8 (I think)
    PH 7.5
    TA 150
    CH 350
    CYA 30

18,000 gallon fiberglass Taylor K2006 test kit

Last night I shocked up to about 14 using the bleach calculator. This morning FC was 8.6, added 3 jugs. At 11:30 a neighbor added 1.5 jugs. At 3:30 FC was 8.4 so I added 2 more jugs. Any suggestions? I really want to use the pool this weekend. Thanks.
