    Default New surface still needs daily acid

    We have an IG gunite 13,000 gal pool, which was resurfaced in Feb with a quartz-type surface. The pool guy handle chemistry for the first month and then I took over again.

    I have been fighting high pH ever since and need to add acid almost daily. I don't have all my numbers in front of me, but

    ALK is ~ 110
    CH is ~ 150 ( our water is hard)

    I am trying to understand if I have a chemistry issue or this is normal for the first year of a new surface.

    FWIW, my IG is 5 months old (gunnite/plaster) and I still battle high ph, though it is lessening. Typically I need to add about 2.5 cups of muriatic acid every 3 days or so...my numbers typically look like this:

    FC=7.5ppm
    CC=0
    PH=7.8
    CYA=55ppm
    CH=375ppm
    TA=120ppm

    My TA was 210ppm at filling, so it is making its way down.
