Vacuuming to Waste

Can someone please remind me how to vacuum to waste with a sand filter, and vinyl, inground pool. I haven't needed to do it in several years, and can't remember how to do it.

it's farily simple. take your vacuum hose and toss it in the pool. put one end on the vacuum head and drop it in the pool. take the other end of the hose and hold it up to one of your returns. let the water flow thru there getting all the air out of the hose.

keep the hose under the water (very important). turn your pump off. hook the hose up to your skimmer (making sure you keep it under the water). turn your pump over to waste and turn it on. it should start sucking water right out and you are ready to go.

just make sure you watch your water level not letting it get too low.
