Smile Hayward Filter - can a heat exchanger be replaced?

Couple years ago our Hayward H250 started leaking (due to chemical issues with previous owner) I pulled it out of the line and we have gotten along just fine. Well it is still just sitting there and either I need to fix it or get it hauled away. Is it possible to order and install a heat exchanger ourselves?

Thanks so much for your help and idea's.

The heat exchanger can certainly be replaced! It's about the most expensive part of the heater so you may want to consider a new heater (the company I work for is currently installing mostly heatpumps - it may well be worth your time to consider a different type of heater vs. replacing the exchanger)
