Water treatment with the cover on?

Can I top off my pool & run the pump with my winter cover still on it?

I am needing to do the Absorbic Acid & Metal Out routine to remove some liner stains & would like to keep the cover on it so I do not have to worry about my chlorine levels while I am doing this.

Can I do that or will I run into problems?

I think with a mesh cover that is not in contact w/ pool water, adding chemicals and running filfter would not be a problem. I did that last year.

Cover is not mesh, it is the heavy style winter cover...It is in contact with the water.

If the chemicals ruin the cover, that is ok...it is time for a new one anyway!
