    Carl & Bass,

Do either of your filters have the WINTER position between waste and backwash? Mine has 7 settings as follows:
    Filter/Normal (12 o'clock)
    Waste
    Winter
    Closed
    Backwash (6 o'clock)
    Recirculate
    Rinse

    Just wanted to clarify.

I have a 244T also...no Winter setting. Think I heard that it's just an intermediate position that keeps the handle lifted so all ports are open and no pressure is on the valve gasket. Same as leaving the handle between operational settings. Best guess.
