    Default High Alk/Ph question...

My fill water alk is very high for some reason, so I feel like I'm always trying to lower it. Is it okay to leave Alk at 230 if Ph stays about 7.8 (maybe a tad lower) in an above ground pool?

If you don't have a problem with rising pH, your fill water is not high in calcium, and you don't use cal hypo then there is no problem.
If your pH is always rising too fast or your water gets cloudy because your calcium is also high, or you are seeing scale deposits then don't worry about it. If you want to take the slow approach to lowering TA just drop your pH to 7.0-7..2 every time you need to add acid. Every time you add acid you lower TA but when you are just making small pH adjustments the change in TA is usually less than the precision of your testkit. However, over time the TA will drop. IF you do get your TA down then whenever you add fill water also add some acid with it.

Thanks! My fill water calcium is actually VERY little - like 20.
