Default Who knows their Hayward/EUS heat pumps???

    Hi,

New-to-us home and new-to-us pool. We have a heat pump for the first time too.

What can anyone tell me about my "new" heat pump? It's a Hayward model PE52A62. From a left-behind shipping document, it states it's 116,000 BTU. Is that reasonable or undersized for a 15,600 gallon pool? Right now, there's only a screened enclosure but no pool cover. May have to think about getting one.

The other logos and decals on the unit indicate EUS and Mark VI. I read where Hayward acquired EUS back in 2003...this unit was installed in 2006. Did all Mark VI units have scroll compressors? Any chance this unit has a titanium heat exchanger (pool has SWCG)? Anyone have any old sales literature with the COP listed?

What can I expect from this unit...reasonable heating? slow heating? mechanical problems? smooth sailing?

    Thanks.

I had a 78000 btu heat pump on a 20,000 gallon pool, and heating was very slow. I had to run the pool 24 x 7 to maintain the temperature at the beginning and end of the season. On a cool night, the temperature would still drop with heat pump running. You have more btus and less gallons, but I would strongly recommend a cover for cool nights.
