    Default OMG.......ice in filter basket

.....things got crazy around here after pool closing in Oct ( health issues, work issues etc etc) and we just realized that we never went back to use shop vac to drain filter basket..is now frozen solid ( likely just in the past week or so).....I'm assuming it is ruined or at least damaged...any input or thoughts?....I am so upset, but due to circumstances it was overlooked. hopefulyy the cold spell won;t last long and then we can drain it when it thaws...but?!?!?!?!?!?

There's not much you can do about it now but wait--but maybe you got lucky and no damage has been done. They're forecasting lows in the 13-15 degree range here (Louisiana!!!!) for this weekend so I'm going to have to drain my system for the first time since it was built 8 years ago!!

Pour hot water into it until it melts--not boiling, just hot.
Then, when it's drained, put lots of foam in it (like chopped-up swim noodles) to absorb the expansion of any further ice.

If the unit isn't cracked, you are OK. If it is, you may be able to fix it with pool epoxy.

That's my suggestion (no guarantees, implicit or explicit!)
