Between the hole, which started draining it, and the liner walls collapsing into the pool, the pool was drained when I discovered the damage.

It appeared to be okay about a week prior, when I last mowed my grass. I was mowing when I discovered all the sand around the pool. Pool went all winter without a noticeable problem, even surviving the blizzards, then this happened.

Bought a new liner yesterday. Put it in this morning, and that seems to have made the difference. Had a fit getting the new liner hung, as it kept falling down, even when duct taped. (Installed it by myself) But, it finally relented, and let me hang it. Filling the pool now (garden hose), and it's looking pretty good so far. Have a few inches of water in, and the few small wrinkles are disappearing under the weight of the water and a little encouragement.

Thanks for your input...it helped convince me to go ahead and get a new liner.

Did you put a plastic sheet under the sand and tape it up the walls of the pool?
That will help prevent washout of the sand.
