My BD gets stuck on the ladder as well--or it did. I can remove my ladder in less than 30 seconds so I do so when cleaning--I also pull out the floating thermometer.

I tried once to develop a cage that would block off the ladder so the cord couldn't get under but was unable to. Strangely, the Dolphin NEVER had a problem with the ladder--it's only real advantage.
