    Default Building my own pool

I want to build my own pool in Fort Worth, Texas. I used to be a GC for a national homebuilder so I know the process. Does anyone have any advice, suggestions on contractors, designers, etc. I was quoted 50K for a simple 14 x 28 pool with a 7 x 7 hot tub and only 200' of Decking. Pools are not complicated, the automated controls a little, but plumbing, electrical, and steel work are not rocket science.

You might want to check out this website:
    http://www.howibuiltmyownpool.com/

Ben Choi was a user here in the early 2000's and ended up building his own pool. He documented the process extensively.

Interestingly, in reviewing his site today, I found that he notes that I discouraged him from doing it himself. However, I think his site pretty much shows that he's the exception to the rule. As a contractor yourself, you may find his site very helpful. But I think the majority of people, after seeing all that is involved, and all that he did, will decide maybe they really don't want to go that way.

PS. I deleted a post another new user who was promoting his "whole sale pool design service". Not only do I not allow that sort of self promotion here, this business was only 6 months old, and was in partnership with a guy (Emron Todd Wright) who is an Internet "promotion" and marketing guy.
