It may just be the breakdown from the leaves if you had a lot of leaves in your pool. Run your pump/filter 24/7 and see if whatever it is will filter out. Check your pressure on your filter before you start and watch and see if it is rising.

No filter. I thought about it being leaves but the staining is so bad it will not wipe off. I do see the pressure increasing from morning to evening when I back wash. Maybe I need to just be a little more patient.
