    Default Pentair CCP420sq ft Filter Question

    I am about to pull the trigger on a 33'x54" AG pool. I want to go with a cartridge filter. Will the pentair 420 sq ft filter system do the job? Can I go smaller? Thanks for any help. Below is a link to the filter.

    Default Re: Pentair CCP420sq ft Filter Question

    Let's work this out the right way.

    33' x 54" pool => actual water volume = 15.5^2 * pi * 4 * 7.48 = 22,600 gallons (at the 48" water line)
    6 hour turn over rate = 22,600 / 6 / 60 = 63 gpm; 8 hour turn over rate = 22,600 / 8 / 60 = 47 gpm;

    Target flow => 60 GPM on HIGH

    Commercial cartridge filter rates = 0.375 gpm / sft ; Required sft for pool => 60/0.375 = 160 sft

    So the 175 sft Hayward would be fine:

    as would the 200 sft Pentair

    ============== Not finished - I'll try to get back to this ===============
