    thanks Watermon and PoolDoc,
been away for a while with family issues.
Since last here water has cleared nicely and ph is under control.
had to replace hayward pump. due to leaky shaft seals, could not keep prime for vacuuming.
all cleaned up now...but skimmer has developed leak...it never ends!
tried patching, but there are a number of hairline cracks and can't seem to get it water tight.
it is 9+ yrs old, so replacing it will be my next pool project (after july 4 family party).
any advice on where to buy, or pitfalls to avoid ?
