Thank you so much Janet! The shock is calcium hypochlorite and "other ingredients". I have a salt water test kit that I used. I believe it saud ph was too high. I will get a better kit tomorrow.

Kyla, just to let you know --- the Taylor K-2006 is not going to be available locally, only online. Do yourself a favor and go ahead and order it and then pick up one of the cheaper kits Janet mentioned above to use while you wait on your good kit!

While you're working this out, do two things:
1. Buy several gallons of PLAIN 6% household bleach, and add 1 gallon each evening. No skipping, till you have everything under control!!!
2. If you can't get an HTH 6-way drops kit locally, just get a cheap OTO/phenoll red kit. The HTH 6-way is the ONLY kit we know of that you might be able to buy locally that's really acceptable. (Leslie's might have a K2005 or their private label version -- but then you'll have to buy the K-1515 to make it equiv to the K2006, and it would have been cheaper to get the K2006 in the first place.)
