Re: My First Post
OK... Finally got my Taylor K2006 test kit. Below are my test results.
FC=2
CC=.4
CYA=40
PH=7.6
TA=110
CH=200
I will be adding a gallon of GV 6% bleach tonight. Will test before bed and again when I get up and post results. To me, from what I've read, everything looks OK except the FC and CC levels. Hopefully, the gallon of bleach tonight will fix that and with my new test kit I'll be able to stay on top of it.
If there's anything anybody sees that says otherwise, let me know.
Thanks everybody!

Re: My First Post
It all looks good, except that chlorine is a little low, as you've already noted. Get that up to the 3-6 range, and you should be in great shape. Happy swimming
(Are y'all getting the same amount of rain there that we are in Shreveport? Make sure you don't neglect your testing--it's especially important when it's raining!

Re: My First Post
New test results from this morning:
FC=3.6
CC=.4
Only thing that concerns me is the fact that the CC hasn't gone down. The one gallon I added last night upped my TC by 1.6ppm. I think I'll add another gallon this morning. That shouldn't keep anyone from swimming today and should get my FC up enough to hopefully clear out whatever is using the chlorine and keeping my CC up.
Let me know if you see anything else I may need to do.
aylad,
Yes, it has been raining almost every evening here. We actually live near Hammond which is at the cross of I55 and I12. Glad it's here but wish it would stop. LOL!!!

Re: My First Post
Just use the 10mL testing sample instead of the 25mL one so your testing reagents will last longer. Don't worry about a CC of 0.4.
(I go near Hammond whenever I drive from my place to Houston.)

Re: My First Post
Watermom, I was using the 25ml sample because i thought I would get a more accurate reading. I will change to the 10ml sample from here on out. Pool still looks good. Water really sparkles in the sun.

Re: My First Post
The 25 mL sample gives readings in .2 increments, the 10 mL gives them in .5 increments--.5 is really close enough!
At least the rain is bringing down the water temp in my pool--this morning it was down to 84!!

Re: My First Post
Well, I just wanted to report that as of this morning my levels look good. FC is 5.5 and CC was a big fat zero! I would like to take a moment to thank all the contributers that help on this forum. You guys make it easy for goof balls and pool noobs like me to maintain or to regain control of our pools.
THANK YOU!
