Lightbulb What is involved in changing depth of a pool?

We moved into this house 6 yrs ago, have a small kidney shape pool which is now 15 yrs old. Everything is original, the liner is showing it's age. It pulled away from the corners of the stairs, just pulled away from an area in the deep end. The pool company we use for repairs is going to fix the pull away in the deep end this week, but told me the liner is becoming brittle. I realize we will need a new liner soon, in preparation for this I would like to get an idea of what is involved in changing the depth of the pool. Right now the pool is mostly 10ft deep, the shallow end is directly in front of the stairs.

Unless you are planning to do it yourself, you need to ask your local contractors. They may successfully use methods we're not familiar with; and they may NOT be able to use methods that would work for some of us.
