Upgrading 18 x 52 Ultra Intex AGP with Built in Skimmer & PVC

I am taking the big leap as a DIY and upgrading our 18 x 52 Ultra Intex AGP to change to PVC and add a Hayward Skimmer. I am always looking for ideas - might put a fountain in too, just have to do it while hubby is away.....thanks for all the information and help from the Pool Forum.
