    Question Pool on a timer

First post to the forums, and not the last post.

I put a digital timer and contactor on my pool pump power feed last year. I don't have a two speed pump, its a 1hp Pentair single speed. Is it ok to shut down the pool pump from say 9pm to 9am at night to save a little on electricity.

I was told by a young pup pool worker not to ever shut down the pool, but I did it last year and didn't see any adverse affects.

It is absolutely ok to do that. Nobody needs to run their pump 24/7 unless they are fighting algae or trying to clear up cloudy water.
