Lightbulb First post - salt water kiddie pool?

I've read some articles about using salt water instead of chemicals in kiddie pools. How effective is this vs the BBB method, both in cost and hygiene?

How big of a kiddie pool are you talking about? Are you talking about having a SWCG on a kiddie pool? SWCG units are very expensive. They are not cost effective for even big pools and certainly not for a tiny pool. SWCGs produce chlorine so from a sanitation perspective, there is no difference between a pool with this type of unit and one where chlorine is added manually.

I'm guessing you're operating on the misunderstanding that salt water REPLACES chlorine. This idea has been promoted by some unscrupulous pool salesmen and companies. In fact, salt water systems are Salt Water Chlorine Generators (SWCG) and are merely a METHOD of introducing chlorine into the pool.

If you mean, can you use an SWCG on an uncirculated kiddie pool, the answer is, "No!".

But you can use them on a pool like this:
12 foot Intex pool @ Amazon
The SWCG is a separate unit, like this:
Intex SWCG + filter @ Amazon
