Default Inground pool main drain, fill in ?

Hi All, I am getting my liner replaced and all 3 contractors who I got quotes from asked me if I want my main drain filled in with concrete. My pool is 25 years old and I never had a problem. Is it a northern climate thing because of possible freezing ?

If you have an existing pool, and have never had a problem with freezing in the past . . . you are probably good now.

Removing the main drain makes it easier for them to install the liner AND harder for you to keep the pool clean, since dirt will accumulate in that deep in, with no drain present!
