Pouring bleach into the skimmer is fine. I also have a vinyl AG pool and that is the way I add bleach and have for years. Doesn't hurt a thing.

I always add all of my chemicals slowly in front of the return jet and have not noticed any ill effects. When I used to use the powdered shock I used to walk around the pool and add it slowly all the way around, but I am a convert now.
