FC reading

I have noticed after doing the test for cc and fc that at first the cc is clear. But after sitting there for a while it slowly goes from light pink and gets darker the longer I leave it there. How long should you wait till you get an accurate cc reading. Thanks for all the help. I feel great about my pool and the knowledge I have to keep it sanitary at the best price. Sharon
